A large number of apps on a mobile device can make their access difficult. Users have to spend more time on swiping, looking for an app because of the random clutter on the home screen. The mobile platforms offer some organizing options, but they may not be satisfactory as it is not always user-friendly.
Organizing your iPhone Home screen
Organizing your home screen can sometimes be fun if you don’t think of it otherwise. We often try hard keeping up with the increase of apps on our phones. But little do we know these overwhelming amount of apps can get into our control merely by systematizing them into an order that we prefer.
Keeping the app icons in order can also come handy when you want to take control of the ever-growing app collection. This is especially for those times when you are rushing to select an app in an emergency. Imagine how much of your time gets consumed just to search for an app. So, it is better to get organized than to get annoyed by those poor helpful apps.
Here are 7 creative ways to organize your iPhone home screen.
1.Theme based Folders
Organize your home screen with themes based folders or simply theme based queue. It can add customization to your Home screen. You can categorize the apps into folders by name respective to their work, such as shop, travel, social media or games. This way the apps will be a folder away from accessing not needing to scroll around the pages searching for it.
2. Alphabetical Order
Many people find satisfaction in alphabetically organized things. And this method is for them as it completely sorts the apps into an order; resulting in finding the apps better. Instead of manually alphabetizing apps, here’s an easier way to sort them on the iPhone:
- Launch the Settings app.
- Tap “General.”
- Scroll down and tap “Reset.”
- Tap “Reset Home Screen Layout.”
The method will place the icons that come with Apple phone into their default locations, and other apps get sorted alphabetically.
Also, if you like placing the apps in folders, another way is to create an “A” folder, “B” folder, to organize the apps better.
3. Hand Position
This method is based on how a person operates the phone. If you are someone who uses the one with only one hand, then you can place the frequently used apps around the phone’s edges to open an app on the perimeter of your phone. However, filing apps in folders is not an ideal approach as it opens up to unfold the apps resulting in unreachability of apps.
4. Quick Access Dock
Select the often used apps, for example, the call log, messaging, browser and music app. And place them into the dock. This is an efficient method. The dock is easily accessible and it keeps the urgent apps in place without having to scroll around the pages. Also if you have more than four apps that you want to keep at the dock, then you can create a folder and place the apps on it. Rest of the apps can lie on the later pages as they are hardly used. Also, even if they are used once in a while, you can get access to it quickly because you will know where to search for it on your phone.
5. Bottom Line
The bottom of the screen is a prime domain since it’s the most natural part to reach. Users spend more time in the lower quadrant. So, it is reasonable to drop the essential app icons along the bottom. Apps that come as secondary in importance such as Gmail, social media apps but are often used can be kept in the bottom. It is recommended for owners whose fingers spend more time swiping around the bottom area already.
Assembling apps by folder is one the best way to manage the cluttered apps. But it does not looks managed when the phone looks cluttered with folders.
Instead of filing folders, you can create shortcuts with list menus to choose which app you want to open. Name the shortcuts by their respective activity, for example, have a shortcut called communicate that offers a menu of messaging apps (WhatsApp, Messenger, and so on).
7. Colorful Cluster
An app icon’s visual elements are mainly designed to be easily identified and memorable. The mind associates color much quicker, and shades can help you navigate your phone faster. Create a scheme like Facebook, Twitter all grouped, while Whats App, Messages, sit off to the side. This result in the easy organization of app helping you to access the apps smoothly.
In addition to these option, you can also organize your iPhone by using apps such as iSkin. Different people organize their apps in different ways. You can always get creative in your own way. Share your creative ideas in the comments below.
